The story

Each reverse in this series shows two kings from the Chakri dynasty, running from Rama I to Rama X as the denominations rise. The 20 baht carries Rama I, founder of the dynasty, and his son Rama II. The Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew beside Rama I represent his founding of the House of Chakri and the start of the Rattanakosin period, and they remain the icon of Bangkok. The mural reproduction beside Rama II is a scene from the Panji tales, a nod to Rama II’s reputation as a poet and patron of the arts. This denomination has been printed on polymer since 2022, keeping the same design as the earlier paper note, with the current king on the front.

Front

King Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X) in Royal Thai Air Force uniform with epaulettes, wings badge and aiguillette, royal cypher under a crown with radiating rays, Garuda (Thai national emblem), lotus-petal-shaped windows, Thai kanok floral ornament, texts "รัฐบาลไทย" and "ธนบัตรเป็นเงินที่ชำระหนี้ได้ตามกฎหมาย", signature captions for the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Bank of Thailand.

Back

Half-length portraits of King Rama I and King Rama II facing slightly right, Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew spires at lower left, Thai mural scene (Panji/Inao tale) at lower right, Garuda emblem, trident-in-chakra emblem, bead necklaces and royal regalia, Thai kanok floral border, text warning that counterfeiting or altering the note is a criminal offence.
